  • Derating of rated voltage to operting temperature :
    Use of a capacitor at high temperature shortens the capacitor life due to thermal deterioration.when operation capacitors high temperature , please derate the operating voltage in conformance with the Fig1.

 
  • Derating of rated voltage for high frequency :
    Use of a capacitor at high frequency may cause the capacitor deterioration and damage due to self-heating.
    (The allowable value depends on dielectric. For details consult our office or sales representative).

 
  • Operating temperature range :
    Operating temperature range is specified as a sum of ambient temperature, inherent temperature rise and temperature rise by radiant heat from other heat sources, the capacitor surface temperature is not exceeding the operating temperature range.

 
  • Inherent temperature rise :
    When capacitors are operated in AC circuit or high frequency / high ripple current circuit , temperature of capacitors rises inherently,in case temperature rises too high,performance of capacitors may be deteriorated or damaged. The inherent temperature rise at no air circulation (Ambient temperature at 40℃) shall be within avalue specified below. (See the Table 2)

 
  • Permissible current :
    When capacitors are operated in AC circuit / high frequency / high ripple current circuit permissible current to; capacitor shall be less than a value Ip-p, in case of operation at a higher current than permissible value, performance of capacitor may be deteriorated or damaged because of inherent temperature rise.

  • Use for Across-the-Line as Noise Suppressor :
    a) For across-the-line capacitors as noise suppressor, very strict safety performance are required in the U.S.A,CANADA and EUROPEAN countries , for this application , choose the most suitable type shall be selected from MPX(275Vac) series.
    b) For capacitors used as noise suppressor in OA appliances and VA equipment like TVs and VTRs,voltage is ,in general, applied continuously for 24 hours,and moreover abnormal surge voltage ( thunder surge ) may be also applied unexpectedly.Such factors give very cruel influences to the capacitor life
    c) Safety regulations on capacitors are classified by IEC, depending upon the usage of circuitry.
    d) Class X capacitors are suitable for applications where there is no danger of electrical shock in case of breakdown . Class X capacitors are divided into three subclasses (See the Table 3) according to the peak voltages of the pulses to which they are exposed during operation in addition to the line voltage. Such impulses can be caused by lightning in overhead lines,switching operations in neighbouring equipment or in the equipment which is shielded by the capacitor.
