1.0 Installation Instructions :

  • The power supply cum battery charger, (MES 1210) is designed to operate with battery. Before connecting battery check the polarity merking and ensure that battery is connected to the designated terminals.

  • In float mode the output voltage is set at 13.5 V, (With battery disconnected). When battery is connected at the battery output terminals the output will follow the battery voltage.

  • The Equipment output current is limited to 10A. The battery charging current is limited to 5A.

  • Never short the battery-ve and Radio-ve terminals use separate-ve terminal for Radio and Battery.

  • Do not cover the power supply with cloth or paper as it obstructs the cooling of the power supply.

  • Do not operate the power supply without proper earth connection. This could damage the power supply or cause malfunction of the equipment. Earth connection is also necessary of the users safety

  • For trouble free operation of the equipment periodical maintenance of the battery should be carried out as mentioned by the battery manufacturer.

  •  PSU is to be serviced by serviced by trained technicians.
 
2.0 Indications :

Three LED indications are provided on the front panel.

2.1 MAINS ON INDICATOR       : Will be ON when AC is available.

2.2 BATTERY ON INDICATOR   : Will be ON when external Battery is supplying power to the equipment (load)


2.3 BATTERY LOW INDICATOR : Will be ON when Battery Voltage is below 11.4V
 
3.0 Introduction :

MES1210 SMPS based PSU is a light weight, highly efficient, extremely reliable Power Supply capable of delivering 10Amps at 13.5V DC from Mains Input. single phase supply. In addition it has the feature of charging external battery. In case of Mains failure, the battery will automatically take over and feed power to the load. It is meant for use in Radio Communication systems like VHF/UHF Radio Transceivers.
 
4.0 Salient Features :

  • WIDE AC INPUT OPERATING RANGE : High frequency switching enables to operate over a wide AC Input range

  • SMALLER SIZE AND LIGHT WEIGHT : The use of high frequency switching reduces it size and weight considerably, thereby it can be installed in the Radio cabinet.

  • HIGH EFFICIENCY, LESS HEATING : Due to its inherent higher efficiency it dissipates less energy and requires much smaller heat sink as compared to its linear counterpart. In short it runs cooler and wastes lesser energy.


  • CURRENT MODE, MOSFET BASED DESIGN : The current mode topology employed has an inherent high reliability due to Pulse-by-pulse current limit principal. With current mode principal, no component is subjected to any high stress than the designed value.

  • SEPARATE BATTERY TERMINALS : MES 1210 has separate terminals for Radio and Battery, thereby battery current is continuously monitored and limited to a safe vlaur of 5.0 Amps.

  • INRUSH CURRENT LIMIT. INPUT RECTIFIER AND FILTER.
